Pima Elementary has been named an "Excelling" and an "A" School by the State of Arizona for nine consecutive years - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. ( Learn more here.)

Prize Drawing for Open Computer Night
Parents, attend open computer night with your student and receive a raffle ticket for a prize drawing from Glamour on the Go - Mobile Spa. Each parent receives a ticket for each time they come!
SUSD Seeking Parent Volunteers to Serve on Committees
Science Elective Curriculum Adoption Committee SUSD is looking for parent volunteers for a forming Science Elective Curriculum Adoption Committee. Its goals are to select appropriate instructional materials including technology for the high school courses outside the framework of the Next Generation Science Standard.
Two important meeting dates, to be held:
1) Jan. 11-tentative time is 3 PM-7 PM for initial screening 2) Feb. 8--- tentative time is noon-6 PM for publisher and company presentations There may be small group meeting times after that to make final decisions and prepare to present for the governing board, but these are not yet scheduled.

Fine Arts Curriculum Committee In addition, a multi-year Fine Arts Curriculum Committee is also seeking parent participants. Its 2011-12 goals will be to update materials for HS Visual Arts, AP Visual Arts, Theater, Dance (software and curriculum class sets), Piano Dual Enrollment and AP Art History. For 2012-13, the focus will be K-8 Visual Arts, K-12 General Music and Vocal, and 4-12 Band and Strings.
Planned committee meeting dates are currently set for Jan 26, April 12, and May 8 - Governing Board First Read; part 2 meetings would be in Nov 2012, Jan 2013, and March 2013.

Holiday Adopt A Family Program
Vista del Camino’s Holiday Adopt A Family Program will begin enrollment on September 14, 2011 at 8:00 am. Families can start calling or may visit Vista del Camino, 480-312-2323/7700 E. Roosevelt, or Paiute Neighborhood Center, 480-312-2529/6535 E. Osborn Rd., to sign up for an appointment. As usual, there is a 5 year program limit. Also, space is limited, the program will be open until full.

Are you looking for quality after-school care for your children? If so, look no further. The city will continue offering its "Thrive After Three" after-school program for a nominal fee. The program for elementary school children is available at various community centers, a neighborhood park and five elementary school campuses. Get details at www.scottsdaleaz.gov/parks/asp.
