Message from the PTO President
"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart."
   ~Elizabeth Andrew
On behalf of the Pima Elementary PTO Board, I would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all our wonderful volunteers, supportive families, and dedicated teachers and staff that made this year so successful. During these challenging times for education, the Pima community has continued to show what makes us unique – a dedication to an excelling environment for our children. Thank you to all those that have given their time and effort towards that goal.

About the Pima School PTO
We are a non-profit organization devoted to raising much-needed funds for Pima Elementary School and promoting a sense of community among students, families, and staff.
With tight school district budgets, the PTO is increasingly called upon to help finance more and more activities, programs, and campus improvements at our school. Your financial support helps sponsor such terrific programs like Accelerated Reading, Artist in Residence, PE Field Day, Red Ribbon Week, as well as provide computers, playground equipment, art and music supplies, and much more.
Watch for PTO news as well as other important school information in the weekly Panther Prints. You can also visit other pages on our site:
Pima PTO and our students appreciate your support!
Sincerely,
Your Pima PTO Board of Directors

Congratulations to the whole Pima Community! Pima Elementary has been named an "Excelling" School by the State of Arizona for six consecutive years - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008! Learn more here
Facilities Plan Summary
Dear Pima Parents:
Below is a summary of the new facilities plan for the Coronado and Saguaro Complexes presented by the district administration to the Governing Board. Expected completion dates for all renovations are listed as well, but more detailed information can be found in the district's presentation, Revised Plan for Facility Consolidation.
As most of you now know, a consolidation or closure of Pima is no longer included in their plans. (Hooray!) There is, however, a plan to turn all elementary schools in both complexes into K-5 schools with the only exception being Hohokam, which they propose to make K-8.
This plan will obviously spark many comments from the community. Some members of the Saguaro Complex have already put forth a K-8 Complex proposal that mirrors our own Protect Pima solution from last spring. The Board will be discussing all proposals within the next few months in an attempt to finalize a plan and include it in a Nov.’09 bond initiative. These discussions will most likely include the question of whether or not the district is properly assessing parental interest in the K-8 configuration.
We would like to encourage all of our Pima families to learn more about K-8 here on our website and to join in the dialogue. Thank you all for your continued support.

Pima Elementary Is a Community-Neighborhood School
What is a "Community-Neighborhood" School?: An elementary school that draws the majority of its students from the surrounding area and builds within it a strong community that reflects the standards and interests of its families. Community-Neighborhood Schools make it easier for families to be involved with their child's education, find support, create lasting bonds, and develop a true sense of community and neighborhood pride.
