Spring Carnival – Thank you, Pima!
Our Pima Spring Carnival last Saturday was a terrific success, and we would like to thank all those that helped make it a great day for the students, families, and community who joined us in celebrating 50 years of Pima pride:

Our PTO’s next General Meeting will be held Thursday, April 22 in the Library at 6:30pm. We’ll be reviewing the year’s events, challenges, and accomplishments as well as discussing plans for next year! Your input is invaluable and we hope to see you there! Spring Carnival – March 27
Our annual Pima Spring Carnival is March 27, 1:00-4:00pm. It’s a terrific afternoon of food, games, and rides with fun for the entire family! Download the wristband order form here. Our annual soda/water drive for this event is currently running through March 23rd. We are asking that every family bring in a donation of soda (cans only) or water for the Carnival. Fun Run Thanks
Who knew exercise could be so much fun! Many thanks to Pima’s 50th Anniversary Committee and all the volunteers that made Pima’s Fun Run a great success. Check out pictures from the event at our website! Book Fair Thanks
Thank you to everyone that volunteered and participated in our annual Book Fair and made it a wonderful success. Your continued support will keep our library a resource we can be proud of and every student can benefit from. A special thanks to Pam Kelly, Kris Cunningham, and Michelle Schulte for coordinating this huge event. Book Fair – March 1-5
Let’s dive into reading! Our annual Book Fair is next week, March 1-5. Be sure to visit us in the library and check out our terrific selection of books for all ages as well as lots of fun items. Times are as follows: 7:20am-noon and 1pm-3pm each day, and 5pm-7pm on Open House night, Thursday March 4. All proceeds go to our wonderful Pima library!! Spring Carnival – March 27

Charlotte has already created a handy new email for our volunteers, pimaptovolunteers@gmail.com, and we’re sure she’s going to do a terrific job for families that want to be more involved at Pima.

Super Sock Hop!!!
A huge “Thank You!” to the members of our 50th Anniversary Committee and event volunteers for all their hard work on Pima’s Sock Hop Dance! It was a terrific time for all, with poodle skirts and leather jackets as far as the eye could see. And our DJ, Mr. “Wolfman” Hedrick, hit all the right notes! Great job – Pima Rocks!!! Pima Fall Fundraiser Delivery is this Thursday!!
Our Fall Fundraiser items are arriving this Thursday. As packaged items are quite often too bulky for students to manage, please make arrangements to pick up your Fall Fundraiser orders on October 22nd during either one of the two convenient times: 2:00–3:00pm or 5:00–6:30pm. Pima Family Fun Night
Save the date! Our Family Fun Night will be held 6-8pm on Friday, November 13th. It’s a great evening with food, games, and prizes. If you would like to volunteer to help make this event a success, please contact Michelle Schulte at 480-945-4982 or email michelleschulte1@aol.com. Helpers are needed at the raffle tables, bingo prize table, and the food line (must have a valid food-handlers card). We are also still collecting raffle prizes. If you frequent a local business or know a service provider that might want to donate a prize, please contact Charlotte Gilliam Talson at 480-332-2862 or charlyg331@yahoo.com. These donations are tax deductible and a great way to advertise!
Julio G’s Pima Night is Back!
Every Friday night is Pima night at Julio G’s Mexican Restaurant. Dine-in at Julio G’s on Indian School and Miller any Friday of the month and 20% of your bill will be donated to Pima PTO. Just drop your receipt in the Pima box by the main entrance as you leave and you’ve helped your school. It’s easy – and delicious! PTO news for the week ending October 2, 2009
PTO BOARD MEETING DATES HAVE CHANGED
The Pima PTO is pleased to welcome two new members joining the Board. Kami Whisler is our new co-Vice President and Shelley Rumann is our new Treasurer.
Monthly PTO Board Meetings will now be held on Tuesday’s at 8am on campus. All PTO members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The dates are listed below:

This week, watch for a packet coming home with your child’s art work and a wonderful offer from Original Works. You can order a wide variety of products featuring your child’s own artwork – either the one they created in school, or you can have them create new artwork! These items are wonderful keepsakes, make special gifts, and it’s a fundraiser for Pima’s Art Department! The deadline for ordering is October 8th, and the products will be back to you before Winter Break begins. Thank you, Volunteers!
Last Monday was Pima’s yearly student health screening, and the PTO would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers that worked so hard to make it a success. Great job! We would also like to thank Chick-fil-A (Riverview) who generously provided lunch for the volunteers that day, as well as Starbucks (Scottsdale & Thomas) for their donation of coffee. Pima often receives generous support from our local business community – let’s support them! Another big "Thank You!" to all the volunteers who helped with the Title I "Read & Feed" Event this past Thursday. Your efforts helped make the evening a great success!
PTO news for the week ending September 18, 2009
Congressman Harry Mitchell attended Pima’s first Flag Raising Ceremony of the 2009-2010 school year on Friday, September 4th. He addressed the crowd as well as met with students and parents before and after the flag ceremony.

We are having a fun week of prizes, and order forms and payments should be returned to your student’s classroom teacher by Monday, September 21. Please help your student sell these quality products to friends and family, and help us to enhance the quality of your child’s education here at Pima. The dates of our annual Pima Fall Fundraiser have been delayed. The plan is to kick-off our sale this Friday, Sept. 4th. For the first time, we are working with Great American Fundraising to provide a wonderful variety of gift and home items, jewelry, quality gift wrap, and delicious treats. Please watch your student’s backpack for all the details, and remember that your support provides vital campus improvements that enhance the quality of your child’s education here at Pima.

As we celebrate our school’s 50th Anniversary, we have several fun events scheduled throughout the year, and we need your help! Please take a look at the committees listed below and let us know what you are interested in. It’s a fun and rewarding way to show your Panther Pride and help make our school the best it can be.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to Pima Elementary. 50th Anniversary Committee Will coordinate our 50th Anniversary celebrations with scheduled events throughout the year (Family Fun Night, Carnival, etc.). Will schedule and organize Pima’s Alumni Night. Family Fun Night Committee Will organize our Family Fun Night held in November. Co-chairs are needed in the following areas: Raffle Prizes, Food Planning, Bingo Games. Book Fair Committee Will coordinate our annual Book Fair held in March. Carnival Committee Will coordinate our annual Spring Carnival in March (or April). Co-chairs are needed in the following areas: Food Area, Ticket Sales, Music/Lawn Games, and Carnival Games. |
