Playground Renovations:
Beginning on Tuesday, 8/16 the school district will be renovating our playgrounds.   The playgrounds will be partially blocked off in order to upgrade the facilities.  This has been done at other schools as well.  They will be getting rid of the sand and replacing it with a rubberized material, among other things.  The estimate is it will take about 2.5 weeks and should be done around the Labor Day weekend.  Each teacher has been instructed to prep their students about this by mentioning to them that they need to stay away from the areas where they work.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Hudson-Gardner at the school office.

Principal Rednor Leaving Pima
The PTO is sad to announce that our Principal, Mrs. Rednor, will be leaving Pima Elementary School. Mrs. Rednor has taken the position of Principal at Supai Middle School and will be taking JoAnn Cano with her. This change will be effective for the 2011-12 school year. Mrs. Sinsabaugh will be staying on as our Assistant Principal.
What this means for Pima: Right now a few things are still unclear. The district is hoping to have 1 of 2 options in place by next Friday, June 10th. Option 1 is assigning an interim Principal while a more comprehensive search is conducted; option 2 is moving a principal from within the district. Mrs. Rednor will have the opportunity to participate in the search for her replacement. When the district makes a decision we will pass the information on via e-mail and post it on our website www.pimapto.com.
While in the meeting this morning the staff expressed feelings that I am sure we all share - the atmosphere at Pima is one of hard work and a commitment to raising the bar for our children and we would all hate to see someone come in with a willingness to change and perhaps relax that atmosphere. Mrs. Rednor did reiterate that she will do her best to assist in finding a replacement that would fit in with Pima's mission.
This is all the information the PTO has at this time, we will do our best to keep you informed of any decisions made during the summer.
Thanks for your continued support of Pima!

District Letter Regarding Principal Rednor
June 2, 2011
Dear Pima Parents and Guardians:
This letter is to inform you that Sheryl Rednor has recently accepted the position of principal at Supai Middle School effective July 1st. By July 1st, we will decide whether to engage in a search for a permanent replacement in which community members will be involved, or we will decide to appointment an interim until a permanent principal can be found. We will keep you apprised of the decision.
Because of the great strength of the Pima community and staff, we have confidence that your child’s education will continue without being impacted by this change. In addition, the District will provide the necessary resources to ensure that Pima continues to operate as the exceptional school that it is.
We are very proud of our Pima community, and meeting the needs of all students is important to us. If you have questions, please call 480-484-6169.
Sincerely,
Dr. Pam Sitton
Executive Director of Elementary Schools
